DESIGN
Dell G3 15 3500
This whole laptop is made up of plastic but we can say by seeing this laptop that it is durable and it will last long. The material used here is from the good type and strong plastic material, so this can’t break easily.
In terms of a trackpad, there’s no flex in, unlike the last generation. The touchpad is precise. The keyboard on the XPS does feel a little bit more premium but the key travel with the G3 keyboard is really great. I really like the full-size keyboard, the bottom-firing speakers.
Acer Nitro 5
From the design point of view, it’s kind of a cheat that chose more budget end, you get that from the look and feel of it, and whether that doesn’t mean it isn’t a nice looking laptop. When I used it, I did find a few little niggles like the bezels on the screen are a bit chunky around the outside.
I also found that the screen wobbled a little bit far as a bit too aggressive with the keyboard if I was moving it around too much and it flops down sometimes. Otherwise, it’s got a pretty nice design.
The keyboard itself is also quite nice to the red accent as a back-lighting go into it. You can turn up and down with the directional buttons and it’s pretty nice to type on.
The trackpad is okay to use and those who do use this a lot may get irritating, for example, the left click doesn’t click fantastically, it wasn’t that great. Also, a full-sized Numpad is included in it. Nothing is mind-blowing in terms of our RGB backlighting but this is a kind of a basic laptop.
DISPLAY
Dell G3 15 3500
The screen is 144 Hertz, not as bright as the Dell XPS but it still gives a decent brightness and clarity that’s what matters to gamers. You can go to 300 Hertz with the Razer Blade but that’s gonna cost you more than this one.
Acer Nitro 5
This is a 15.6-inch screen, so it’s a fairly compact size laptop but it actually is pretty nifty. To the screen itself, it is a very nice screen that delivers some pretty good experiences, a fast refresh rate, vivid colors. It’s a nice display. It was bright enough to use outside in the daytime.
There is a little bit of light bleed around the very edges at the bottom that you’d notice on the darker scenes. For general use, it wasn’t really a problem. I found it was a set of us an easy screen to use, great for gaming, it looks fantastic with really rich colors and everything else and it performs really well too.
BATTERY
Dell G3 15 3500
It uses a 4 cell 51 watt-hour battery which gives around 7-8 hours battery life if you use it with a 50% brightness. If you buy the G3 3500 laptop with another option 68-watt hour battery, then it will give you a little better battery life. All in all, the battery life is really good if we compare other gaming laptops.
Acer Nitro 5
This laptop’s battery is kind of mediocre. I got about three hours out of the battery before it needed charging. This claim is got by doing things like browsing, working, surfing the web, and some basic use. However, you are paying a budget price for this laptop and you’re getting a good experience all around.
WHICH TO BUY?
If it’s a performance that you’re after, then the G3 3500 doesn’t disappoint. Now, if you want a premium and beautiful laptop, you might choose any other laptop.
Overall, gaming or working on Nitro 5 is a good experience, especially for the price. This is not terribly disappointing as you might expect for a cheaper laptop. There are some laptops that cost 3000 to 4000 dollars that don’t deliver a satisfying experience but this stands as value for money.
Comparatively, Acer Nito 5 is a bit cheaper than the Dell G3 3500 gaming laptop. In my opinion, both are good ones to buy and the decision is in your hands which one do you want considering all the features and performance. I think the Dell G3 will better in performance even though it is a bit pricey than the Nitro 5.
