INTRODUCTION:
Here, we see the comparison of HP Envy 13 x360 versus the HP Spectre 13 x360 laptops. The Envy x360 13 is a great budget option with the latest processor and decent performance. The Spectre x360 13 is a premium gorgeous laptop that comes with the latest specs which give good performance. Let’s get into the detailed review.
DESIGN & BUILD:
HP Envy 13 x360
Since it is a 13-inch ultrabook, it is very slim and lightweight. It weighs only 1.29 kg. If we compare it with the Dell Inspiron 15-inch laptop, it is so small which will make it easy to carry around. HP is almost 20-30% smaller than Dell. It is so compact because it is an ultrabook and has narrow bezels.
The laptop body is finished completely with Aluminium metal and no plastic. It does not have any creaking noises. It’s a perfect premium laptop. The advantage of 11th gen processor is that it is manufactured in a 10nm process. The previous 10th gen was produced in a 14nm process. As the nm value reduces, performance and battery efficiency improve.
The keyboard has 3 levels of backlighting: High, Medium, and Off. There is a Camera shutter close button for privacy. There is a microphone mute and speaker mute button separately, these would be easy useful shortcuts.
HP Spectre 13 x360
I love that modern HP logo, I like that they updated it, and looks pretty cool. We have kind of a matte finish and on the back, you have some ventilation. What’s interesting to me is the fact that this is not some cliche typical laptop in terms of design. So, it has these nice rose gold chamfered edges and I like that it has these little corners chopped off which kind of gives a little bit of a sports car look to it.
It is called the x360 because you have the hinge which goes all the way. This thing feels really hefty and sturdy. I think it will be fine in terms of durability, so you can kind of use it like a tablet mode, landscape mode, portrait mode, and tent mode. It deactivates the keyboard when you’re using it in tablet mode, so you don’t have to worry about it.
There is a nice amount of clicks without being annoying. There’s even a backlight for the keys and then you have a nice big trackpad down the keyboard.
DISPLAY QUALITY:
HP Envy 13 x360
One of the major positives of this laptop is its display. It covers 100% sRGB and 72% NTSC color gamut, so colors are very accurate and thus can be used for video editing. This Envy x360 13 has a smooth and sensitive touch screen for seamless scrolling. Also, it comes with an included stylus pen with which we can write or draw easily without any jitter.
HP Spectre 13 x360
The screen of this laptop is awesome. It’s a 3K 2K IPS OLED screen. So, it has really great viewing angles and it has really great color which covers 100% of the DCI-p3 color space which is perfect. At a 3K 2K resolution, you have 6 million pixels in a 3×2 aspect ratio. You have a stylus because it is a touch screen which is really cool. This has the corning gorilla glass on there which is able to kind of handle a lot of abuse and your fingerprints and all that stuff. I can imagine this being really great for things like Photoshop as well if you want to get a little bit more advanced.
The HP rechargeable tilt pen is really neat because it can be used for a bunch of different artistic purposes like Photoshop or paint 3D. It’s a 2.0 version, so it has improved latency and greater sensitivity to allow you to smoothly transition between colors and get the fine details. The pen can attach to the side of the laptop, you can just pick it up from the side when you need it.
FEATURES:
HP Envy 13 x360
This laptop packs the latest 11th gen i7 processor, its base frequency is around 2.8GHz and goes up to 4.7GHz, it is a quad-core CPU. Also, a major advantage is that it packs the Intel Iris Xe Graphics. The model I have purchased is a convertible and touch integrated laptop. This has 8GB Ram and 512GB PCIe SSD. The Ram isn’t upgradeable because it is an ultrabook and has an integrated Ram stick. Also, it has the latest Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 built-in. Since it has an SSD, the read and writes speeds are amazing. Also, the bootup time would be really less.
For input and output ports, on the right side, we have the power socket, a USB 3.0 port, and a Micro SD card reader. On the left side, we find a headphone jack, another USB 3.0 port, and a USB Type-C / Thunderbolt 4 port. It has a 720p resolution Webcam. This laptop comes with dual Bang & Olufsen tuned speakers. The sound quality is clear and superb.
HP Spectre 13 x360
In the box, we have a nice braided power brick, this is an HP fast charge which allows you to charge 50% of your laptop in about 45 minutes. It also comes with a stylus. This new Spectre x360 13 has the latest 11th gen Tiger Lake processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics. The model that I have has one terabyte of SSD and 16 GB of RAM which is really hefty.
We have some Bang and Olufsen speakers on it. We have a camera shutter key on the keyboard. Having a dedicated button right on the keyboard is really nice. Since I turned off the camera, I can’t find the camera. It even has Windows Hello, it’s super convenient. You can also unlock it by using your fingerprint on the little fingerprint scanner right on the keyboard.
There is a USB-C port right on the corner, so that makes sense if you’re charging from over there. Then, you have a headphone jack, another USB-C port, a micro SD card slot, and the USB-A port.
PERFORMANCE:
HP Envy 13 x360
There are various performance modes given by HP. The default one is balanced, where the CPU and fans perform normally. When performance mode is selected, CPU power and fans run at maximum capacity. In cool mode, the CPU is limited and fans run at maximum capacity to cool down the CPU. In quiet mode, fans are completely turned off and CPU power is limited. Since it has the 11th gen processor, performance is top-notch. I did some benchmarks in which it did perform really well. In the Geekbench Open CL, it scores around 10065, and in Geekbench Cpu benchmarking, it got scores of 1320 in single-core and 3695 in multi-core.
The integrated GPU performance is almost similar to Nvidia MX350. It is almost 20-25% faster than the GPU in 10th gen Intel processors, so it can handle a lot of heavy games in low settings.
HP Spectre 13 x360
I’m able to use this for video editing like in Adobe Premiere. It’s nice, snappy, and fast. It worked perfectly fine and being able to use the stylus when I want to just move around is actually kind of nice. I know a lot of that has to do with the Intel Evo platform that’s built into this, which allows it to be really quick and responsive gives you fast performance, long battery life, and really good visuals. Part of the reason behind the speedy performance of it is the 11th gen Intel core i7 processor. These mobile processors bring the perfect combination of high performance, instant responsiveness, and power efficiency to make sure that you’re able to get the things that you need to be done throughout the day.
One thing that’s been really hard for me when using a Windows-based computer compared to some of the other options is the inability of just easily transferring some files from your phone or to your computer. So, with HP Quick Drop, you can send messages, photos, videos, documents, and more easily between your mobile devices and your computer and it works for both iOS and Android. It is really powerful and helpful for me when I’m creating content.
BATTERY:
HP Envy 13 x360
It has a 51WHr inbuilt battery. For basic web surfing tasks, the battery lasts around 10-11hrs. An advantage is that it includes a 65W fast charger. It is a usual HP laptop-type pin and supports fast charging. In case you forget to carry the charger, it can be charged via Type-C port too.
HP Spectre 13 x360
This laptop gives you full all-day battery life. This has a decent-sized 60WHr battery inside it. It delivers around 13 hours of battery life in normal usage which is plenty for an ultrabook.
WHICH TO BUY?
The Envy x360 13 is an amazing laptop. You won’t be able to find such a deal. If you’re a student, photographer, or business professional looking for a laptop, please do consider this laptop as it is fast and portable too. As a whole, the Spectre x360 13 feels like a really premium laptop with a touch feature. It also performs really well.
Both these laptops have almost the same specs internally but there are so many differences in display, design, and many more things. If you want a decent performing laptop for your productivity under a budget, then you should buy HP Envy x360 13. If you want a laptop with premium features, great design and build quality, you can choose HP Spectre x360 13 but you will have to pay double the price of Envy x360 13.
