INTRODUCTION:
The HP Probook 430 G7 looks like a potentially really good all-round laptop. This is a good budget laptop for causal and business works. we comparing the HP Probook 440 G7 with this one. The Probook 440 is a 14-inch version of the same Probook 430 with some changes in features. Let’s get into the detailed comparison review.
DESIGN:
HP Probook 430 G7
The laptop itself is all plastics on it and this is a plastic lid on this one, this feels great. There are no visible signs of leaving grease and fingerprints. It feels really smooth and solid. Being 13 inches, it’s small, light, and can easily hold it with one hand. Weight-wise, it comes in at about 1.5 kilograms roughly, so there are lighter laptops around but the price which we’ll get is awesome. By keeping in mind that this is a 13-inch laptop, the touchpad is more than adequate. Considering the size of the laptop, there is no number pad on this keyboard. The keyboard itself is really good to type on.
HP Probook 440 G7
It’s very slim and very compact in size and this Probook 440 is a 14-inch laptop. It’s very lightweight of around 1.6 kgs, you can carry it anywhere easily. Its keypad and frames are made of aluminum. You can open it up at 180 degrees completely, it’s very satisfying and smooth. It’s built for business purposes like it has multi-layer security and military-grade specifications. Its build quality is also very strong.
When it comes to the internal accessories, the mouse pad is not that big but it’s manageable, you can work smoothly. On the right-hand side of this laptop, you can see the fingerprint sensor. The keyboard also has a backlit for typing in dim or dark environments.
DISPLAY:
HP Probook 430 G7
It’s a full HD IPS screen. It’s nice, bright, and crisp at this much lower price range. The screen is absolutely fine, it’s got a matte finish to it. The screen ratio is 16:9 like most of the budget laptop’s screen, nothing special here. HP claims 250 nits of brightness but in our testing, we had around 270 nits of brightness which is a good one. This level of brightness will be enough for indoors but not for outdoors. The display only covers 55% sRGB. As the color gamut is not excellent, this can’t be recommended for creative works and also the purpose of this laptop is not that anyway.
HP Probook 440 G7
There is no reflection on the display, so it’s anti-glare. Actually, it has up to 1000 nits of brightness with Intel Ultra HD graphics 620. Display-wise, everything is the same as the Probook 430 G7 but it has a brightness level of up to 1000 nits. The color coverage is not good in this laptop, it only covers 50% of sRGB which is even worse than the Probook 430.
FEATURES:
HP Probook 430 G7
The one we have got for this comparison has got the i5 10th generation processor. It has 8 GB of RAM and it has a 256 gigabyte SSD and that’s an NVMe SSD hard drive. So, it’s an ultra-fast hard drive. So, performance-wise, it is absolutely no issue at all.
On the side of the laptop, we have a headphone jack, a full-size USB port, an HDMI port for connecting up your monitor, an Ethernet port, and we have a USB Type-C port as well along with where the power plugs in. The other side has not so much, there is a full-size SD card slot and another USB port.
There is an upward-firing speaker which is nice to see. It gives a clear and loud sound which is not that great but it is enough for media consumption or any other casual works.
HP Probook 440 G7
If you go to the specification, it has Intel core i5 10th generation with Windows 10 64-bit. This has 8GB DDR4 RAM and Ultra HD graphics 620, also it’s a 3D polished aluminum keyboard deck.
For wireless connectivity, it has Intel Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5. It has an SD card expansion and a 720p HD camera. One good thing is if you are not ready to come in front of the camera during a meeting call, it will not accidentally bring you in front of the camera because it has a covering feature that you can slide to put the camera off. In short, it has a privacy shutter for the camera.
In terms of input and outputs, on the left side, you can see an SD card slot, a heat ventilator, and one USB 3 slot, and one USB Type-C slot. The right-hand side has two USB and one 1.4b HDMI, a 3.5 audio jack, a LAN connection, and the power connection port.
PERFORMANCE:
HP Probook 430 G7
This Probook 430 has a Comet Lake lineup of processors with Intel UHD graphics. We ran some tests to see the power and performance of this machine. In CInebench R20, this one scores 1615 which is 2% more than the Asus Vivobook with the same processor. For the graphics test, we did a test on 3D Mark Fire Strike, in which it got scores of around 1100 which is unfortunately 10% lower than the Asus Vivobook with the same graphics.
Obviously, this is not a gaming laptop but we did some tests on gaming to prove that you can do some casual gaming. In CS: GO with a 1080p low setting, you get some playable frame rates of around 33 fps. In DOTA, with the same settings, you can get around 60 fps. On the highest peak of CPU load, it only gets around 2.07 GHz, and in which it got around 74 degrees in temperatures which is quite toasty. So, this is not a laptop for more high-intensive works. The fan noise is clearly audible but not loud even under load.
HP Probook 440 G7
If you generally do multitasking, video editing, programming, then it can handle very smoothly. You can do all the work at the same time without any problem. Under the laptop, you can find the air ventilator which decreases the temperature of the CPU. If I do multitasking or if the charger is on, I feel the warmness below this laptop a little bit.
In the Cinebench R20 CPU test, this Probook 440 got around 1365 scores, and in the 3D Mark Fire Strike graphics test, it got around 1080 scores. Unfortunately, these scores are lower than the Probook 440 G7. You can play some games by putting this on low settings and also can get around 60 fps in some games.
When the temperature and comfort of the laptop are concerned, the CPU of this laptop can go around 2.55 GHz with a temperature of 72 degrees. In this regard, the Probook 440 is slightly better than the Probook 430 but not by much.
BATTERY:
HP Probook 430 G7
In terms of battery life, HP claim this can run for 15 hours, which is phenomenal if this is a genuine assumption. It will run a whole working day without needing to reach for the plug or your charger. The battery life really depends on you and how hard you’re pushing the laptop and how you’ve got the brightness settings and what power settings you’ve got set up.
HP Probook 440 G7
This has a 3-cell 45-watt hour battery inside it which is a little bit small battery size but it manages to give a good battery life. In the web browsing test, it gives around 10 hours of battery life and in the video playback test, it manages around 9 hours.
WHICH TO BUY?
In my opinion, the Probook 430 G7 will be better to buy than the Probook 440 as that one is performing better but you only get 250 nits of brightness but in Probook 440, you get around 1000 nits. You should choose that you want a 13-inch with slightly better performance or a 14-inch laptop with a bright display.
