16 Best Monitors for PS5: Top Picks for All Budgets

Estimated read time 19 min read

In the ever-evolving world of gaming, the PlayStation 5 has undoubtedly captured the attention of avid gamers worldwide. PS5 has stunning visuals and advanced features but the sad part is that most people play it on regular TVs. However, I would recommend investing in a gaming monitor because it offers numerous features that can significantly enhance the overall gaming experience.

This article will guide you through the top monitors available, ensuring that you can make an informed decision and elevate your PS5 gaming sessions to new heights.

Best High-Range Monitors for PS5

Alienware 34 Curved QD-OLED (AW3423DWF)

Alienware 34 Curved QD-OLED (AW3423DWF)

This is a 34-inch curved monitor from Alienware that comes with a QD-OLED panel. Its market price is $1100. It offers a 3440×1440 Wide Quad HD resolution with a refresh rate of 165 Hz. The response time is 0.1 ms (GTG), and it has a 10-bit color depth, which means it can display 1.07 billion colors.

I know that this is already a 34-inch monitor, but due to its slim bezels and 1800R curvature, it appears larger when viewed from the front. It provides options for height, swivel, and tilt adjustment. Its V-shaped stand covers a significant area on your desk. It has 1 HDMI 2.0 port, which is sufficient for comfortably running the PS5 at 120 FPS on a 2K resolution.

The QD-OLED panel on this monitor enhances the visuals of your games with vibrant colors and improved contrast. In HDR mode, it offers a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The company claims a contrast ratio of 1M:1, and it covers 99.3% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. This means it can display more detailed and accurate colors, especially in HDR content.

If you can afford the price and don’t mind the lower resolution, this monitor offers excellent value for money features.

Sony Inzone M9

Sony Inzone M9

This monitor is available for less than $1000. This monitor features a 27-inch IPS panel. The best thing about this monitor, in my opinion, is its attractive white body, which is quite similar to the white color of the PS5. Having both of them together would make for a cool gaming setup.

Now, talking about its stand, yes, it has a somewhat unique design, but due to its stand design, the height adjustment is only 7mm, and the tilt ranges from -20⁰ to 0⁰, which, in my opinion, is quite limited. Additionally, it does not rotate. Some people might find the stand design appealing, while others might find it slightly annoying due to the limited height and tilt adjustment.

The display quality of the Sony Inzone M9 monitor is quite good. It has a higher coverage of DCI-P3, which enhances the colors and makes them appear better in HDR content. Now, when it comes to contrast levels, it is better than a regular LCD display but not as good as an OLED display. However, it is better than a regular LCD display because it comes with 96 Local Dimming Zones, which automatically adjust the screen’s brightness in different areas. This feature provides deeper blacks and allows you to enjoy high-quality video and gaming experience.

If we talk about its productivity level, this monitor may not display sRGB colors as accurately, which means it may not be as great for productivity tasks like editing and architecture design, etc. Therefore, if you are considering this monitor for productivity purposes, you might want to look into other options instead.

Since both the PS5 and Inzone M9 are owned by Sony, there are additional benefits you receive when purchasing this monitor. For instance, it offers features like auto HDR tone mapping and auto genre picture mode. However, it is important to note that these extra features can only be utilized with the PS5, which can be seen as both a positive and a negative aspect.

If you can spend up to $1000, then this monitor would be the best choice for your PS5. However, if you feel that it is a bit too expensive, you can consider looking at other options that we have listed below.

Acer Predator CG437K

Acer Predator CG437K

It comes with a 43-inch display. It has excellent gaming monitor features such as 4K support and a 120Hz refresh rate (144Hz after overclocking), and a fast response time of 1 ms.

You can find it around $1000, which is a decent price for a monitor of this size, in my opinion. It doesn’t have any adjustable features because its stand is fixed. It uses a VA panel, which provides a good 4000:1 contrast ratio. However, the local dimming feature is quite basic, with only 16 local dimming zones, which are relatively large and cannot adjust the lighting very well. As a result, this monitor doesn’t perform as well in darkrooms.

This monitor is for those who have a good amount to spend and a suitable place to keep it because, simply put, you can’t use it for gaming up close. You need to sit about 3 to 4 feet away from the monitor. Moreover, it doesn’t offer good viewing angles like an IPS panel.

One benefit is that it can also be used as a TV alongside a gaming monitor. It provides DisplayHDR1000 peak brightness, allowing you to enjoy HDR content in bright rooms without any reflections. It also offers a maximum brightness of 750 nits in SDR content.

If it supported 144Hz without overclocking, it would have been a great option for competitive gamers. It has HDMI 2.0 ports, limiting 4K gaming to a maximum of 60 FPS. If you want to use its peak refresh rate, you will have to switch the resolution from 4K to 2K to fully enjoy its 120Hz refresh rate.

MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD

MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD

The MSI Optix MPG321UR UR-QD monitor is based on Quantum Dot (QD) technology. Its market price is $900. It has a thin layer of Quantum Dots behind the IPS panel, which greatly enhances color accuracy and overall image quality displayed on the screen. This provides a fantastic visual experience. The vibrant colors may appear slightly oversaturated in some images. While this technology cannot provide deep blacks and high contrast like OLED technology, it still offers significantly better contrast compared to other regular monitors.

Its brightness reaches up to 400 nits in SDR mode and 600 nits in HDR mode. It covers 97% of the DCI-P3, 143% of the sRGB, and 99% of the Adobe RGB color gamut, making it excellent for both productivity work and gaming. It offers multiple ports, including 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 3x USB-B 2.0 ports, and 6x USB-A 2.0 ports. With these ports, you can easily connect different devices such as PCs, PS5, Xbox, and more. The integrated KVM feature allows for seamless switching between devices.

With its UHD resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, exceptional color accuracy, a variety of ports, and other great features, this monitor becomes a future-proof option.

BenQ Mobiuz EX3210U

BenQ Mobiuz EX3210U

The BenQ Mobiuz EX3210U gaming monitor comes with a 32-inch IPS panel. You can find this monitor for around $900. It features a white finish look and has a well-built stand. The stand can be adjusted up to 100mm in height, tilted -5/15 degrees, and swiveled +/-15 degrees. The red and gray colors on the legs of the stand are highlighted nicely. On the backside, there are thin yellow LEDs arranged in an attractive X pattern.

On the front, towards the bottom right side of the grill, there is a button to enable HDRI. This button auto-optimizes colors, providing you with more precise and saturated colors. This leads to a noticeable improvement in contrast. In HDRI mode, you can choose between game mode and cinema mode, allowing you to enjoy SDR content in its peak form.

It comes with three built-in speakers. There are two 2W speakers located on the front of the monitor and one 5W speaker on the rear side. It offers five sound modes, and all three speakers perform well in terms of sound quality. The monitor also provides a 10-bit color depth.

I know this monitor is a bit expensive, but its attractive design, build quality, good contrast, wide color range, and other great features make it a suitable option for both console gaming and PC gaming.

Acer Predator XB323QK

Acer Predator XB323QK

The Acer XB323QK is available in the market for around $800. Acer has used the Agile-Splendor IPS panel in this monitor. The company claims a response time of 1ms (GTG). It features DisplayHDR 400 with peak brightness and offers 90% DCI-P3 color gamut and Low Delta E<1, which results in accurate color reproduction and better visuals on the screen.

Talking about its design, it has thin bezels on the front side and a cool box-like RGB pattern on the back, which adds to its amazing look. The stand allows for a height adjustment of 130mm, -5/25 tilt adjustment, ±360 swivel adjustment, and it also supports wall mounting.

Thanks to AMD FreeSync, screen tearing is eliminated during gameplay. It offers a total of eight display modes: Action, Eco, Graphics, HDR, Racing, Standard, Sports, and Customizable user mode. Except for the customizable user mode, the other display modes do not provide an option to modify the brightness level.

Unfortunately, it does not support VRR and lacks the feature of local dimming, resulting in average contrast performance. It comes with two built-in speakers with 4W output. The sound quality is not excellent but decent for regular usage and satisfactory for gaming to some extent. However, if you want to enjoy high-quality movies and games, you will need to invest in additional speakers or a headset.

In my opinion, this monitor is a bit costly because even after paying such a high price, it lacks simple gaming features like VRR, which makes it not worth it for me.

Dell 32 4K UHD G3223Q

Dell 32 4K UHD G3223Q

The Dell G3223Q monitor, available in the market for less than $800, comes with a large 32-inch display. Therefore, keeping this monitor requires more space on your desk.

Speaking of the front side of this monitor, it features very slim bezels measuring 7 mm on all three sides. On the backside of the monitor, you’ll find On-Screen Display (OSD) buttons and a simple design, highlighted by an inverted V-shaped blue LED light, which is my personal favorite.

This monitor does not come with built-in speakers. However, when it comes to color gamut, it covers 95% of the DCI-P3 colors. This means that in HDR mode, you can expect better saturated and realistic colors. It utilizes a fast IPS panel, which offers better response time compared to a regular IPS panel.

It also features a special console mode in the game menu, allowing you to play your console games at 120Hz with HDR. In this mode, you also get Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support.

If you are considering getting a large display that serves both your gaming and work needs, providing bright colors and good visuals, the Dell G3223Q will not disappoint you.

ASUS ROG Strix XG27UQ

ASUS ROG Strix XG27UQ

The Asus ROG Strix XG27UQ is a 27-inch monitor with an IPS panel display. It is priced at $800. In terms of looks, apart from its thick screen frame, it has an overall appealing design. Whether it’s the LED logo on its stand or the ASUS logo with RGB lighting on the rear side, it provides a great gaming vibe. The OSD settings can be controlled using the joystick located on the rear side, along with four buttons below it.

The OSD features offer seven sub-menus, including games, brightness and contrast adjustment, lighting effects, and user preferences, providing a variety of features. It has a peak brightness of 350 nits in SDR and 400 nits in HDR, which produces good image quality with better color accuracy in bright rooms. However, its local dimming feature struggles to adjust brightness effectively in dark rooms, resulting in a noticeable difference in contrast between bright and dark environments.

It offers 4K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, which are common features in this price range. However, it only comes with HDMI 2.0 ports, limiting the gaming experience to 60Hz when using 4K resolution. In my opinion, this is not ideal because the lack of HDMI 2.1 makes the monitor less future-proof. Whether or not you should invest in this monitor for such specific feature (HDMI 2.1) is now your personal decision.

Philips Momentum 5000 27M1F5800

Philips Momentum 5000 27M1F5800

The Philips Momentum 5000 27M1F5800 is a 27-inch monitor available at a price of $750 or below. Its polished design gives it a premium look. The stand allows for ergonomic adjustments such as a height adjustment of 130mm, tilt of -5/+20 degrees, swivel of -45/+45 degrees, and pivot of 90 degrees. It has a response time of 1ms (GTG).

This monitor can comfortably handle 4K gaming on the PS5 or other consoles, even at a high frame rate of 120FPS, thanks to its 144Hz refresh rate. It also features AMD FreeSync with advanced Premium Pro technology, which provides tear-free and smooth visuals in HDR content.

It covers 98% DCI-P3 and 100% sRGB color gamuts, resulting in sharp and accurate color reproduction. It also offers 93.1% Adobe RGB color space. With its extensive color range and Nano IPS panel, it is suitable for various creative tasks, including content creation and editing.

The monitor has a peak brightness of 450 nits and a contrast ratio of 1000:1, ensuring vibrant colors and well-defined dark colors. It features a low blue light mode for eye safety, mitigating harmful blue light. The pixel density is 163.18 PPI, which is significantly higher than average monitors, providing finer details and better clarity on the screen. With all these features, this monitor can take your gaming experience to the next level.

Its stand has a rod-shaped structure with a circular base, allowing for smooth height, tilt, and portrait adjustments.

Considering its low price, this monitor provides good 4K visuals and vibrant colors. It offers 1 x DisplayPort 1.2 and 2 x HDMI 2.1 ports, enabling high refresh rate gaming on the monitor. Its circular base design saves desk space. Additionally, it is TUV Rheinland-certified, ensuring that harmful blue light emitted from the screen is reduced to protect your eyes.

It is worth considering this monitor only if you have a PC or console that supports HDR mode, as the colors and brightness in other presets may not be as accurate or impressive.

MSI Oculux NXG253R

The MSI Oculux NXG253R is a monitor with the highest refresh rate in our list, boasting a 360 Hz refresh rate. It is available at a price of around $500. It features a 25-inch Fast IPS display with FHD resolution. It supports Nvidia G-Sync without overclocking up to 360 Hz and also includes Ultra-Low Motion Blur (ULMB). It comes with Nvidia’s special feature, Reflex Latency Analyzer, which measures real-time system latency and displays it on the screen.

This monitor has a sleek matte finish and thin bezels on the top, right, and left sides. On the back, you’ll find a dragon design on the right side and a red-colored joystick at the bottom, which helps control the monitor’s functions.

It has 2x HDMI 2.0b ports, which can easily support up to 120 FPS with HDR on the PS5. When it comes to competitive games, you know how fast-paced they can be, where even a millisecond matters. In such games, the high refresh rate of this monitor proves to be a beneficial point. A high refresh rate provides excellent visual clarity, fast responsiveness, and low input lag.

Therefore, if you are a gamer who engages in both casual and professional gaming, this monitor is the best mid-range option for you.

Asus TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A

Asus TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A

The Asus TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A is a mid-range monitor that falls under $600. This monitor features a 28-inch IPS panel. The sharp edges on the front side and the design on the backside enhance its overall look.

However, the body and stand of the monitor may appear slightly bulky for a gaming monitor. The monitor offers 4x HDMI ports, including 2x HDMI 2.1 ports and 2x HDMI 2.0 ports. This allows you to connect your PS5, PC, or Xbox simultaneously.

This monitor supports 4K with 144Hz, but it covers only 90% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, which results in slightly less saturated colors in HDR. However, it covers 120% of the sRGB color gamut, providing highly accurate colors.

It also features ASUS’s Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB Sync) technology, which can be activated with G-sync, AMD FreeSync, and adaptive sync. Additionally, it supports variable refresh rate, ensuring smooth gameplay and reducing screen stuttering.

According to me, the price of this monitor within $600 justifies all its features well. So if you have a limited budget but still want to get a good 4K monitor, this is a very good option for you.

In the OSD menu, the Gaming menu offers 6 submenus: Aim Stabilizer Sync, Black Equalizer, Super Resolution, Display Mode, Overdrive, and Adaptive Sync. Each submenu has a different use, helping optimize and smooth image quality.

This monitor is well-known for its excellent visual quality, fast performance, and gaming features. The 32-inch display provides a wide viewing angle for gamers, but the bezels are slightly noticeable. In darkroom settings, it may display gray instead of proper black colors due to its average local dimming features. It offers a DisplayHDR 400 brightness rating.

It covers 123% of the sRGB color gamut, ensuring vibrant colors. It includes 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.1 ports for high-end gaming. It features a 4K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate.
